The key challenge for those processing CRT glass is to maintain a continuity of market outlet to bona fide uses both internationally and within the UK.

International Outlets

CRT Recycling utilises the strong demand for processed CRT glass as furnace feedstock for the manufacture of new cathode ray tubes. There are a number of key advantages to this usage;

The processed CRT glass is shipped in containers which would otherwise return empty.

The CRT manufacturer can achieve significant saving in raw material (sand, silica, lead, barium etc.,)

There are enormous savings in the cost of energy – the melting point for the recycled material CRT Recycling supplies is lower than the virgin raw materials – meaning less energy is required to create a quantity of glass

Subsequent large reductions in CO2  output which are achieved reflecting the lower energy demand.  Since our international customers' local energy market is often powered by brown coal, these CO2 savings are significant.

The use of our recycled material ensures that the production volumes achieved by the furnaces are at top level – there is up to a 20% increase in production from each furnace, owing to higher efficiencies, through the use of such recycled material – and this is on top of the lower energy use.

UK Sales

CRT Recycling is continually focused on further reducing its impact upon the environment whilst always being mindful of the ever changing and volatile International markets.  With this in mind we are currently exploring options for developing and expanding markets here within the UK.  This will not only reduce the carbon footprint of our product by reducing the distance travelled but will also provide a cheap alternative to many virgin materials.

To that end we are actively seeking partners within the sustainable construction markets for our high quality finished glass.  There are multiple advantages of using recycled glass - these include the opportunity to incorporate recycled glass within overall sustainability strategies and reduce carboin emissions.  Don't forget that a recycled product can often be cheaper than virgin materials of the same quality.
