Ethical Statement

In this world of profit over ethics, our approach to the issue of the environment and future  generations is to limit the amount of lead that enters the ground becuase of the toxic nature of lead across multiple organ systems - even at low levels previously considered safe, it has been shown through a series of prospective epidemiological studies to produce adverse effects.

The nervous system of the foetus and infant is especially susceptible to lead, which can cross the placenta and penetrate the blood-brain barrier. Lead interferes with neuronal migration, cell proliferation and synapse formation during critical periods of early vulnerability. The consequences are loss of intelligence and disruption of behaviour. Because the brain has little capacity for repair, these effects are permanent and untreatable. The most recent research indicates that lead can damage the infant brain even at blood levels as low as 5 mg/dl.

CRT Recycling prides itself on its ethical approach to this problem and with this in mind it is our approach to minimise the amount of lead that is capable of being released into the environment when placed into the ground or used for any type of aggregate replacement.  The issue of Asbestos has proven to everybody that what seems to be an innocuous substance today is the poison of tomorrow and will have serious implications when having to remove or rework materials that contain these substances.
